Smackdown's Backlash PPV comes at you this Sunday September 11th at 8pm EST in Richmond, VA at the Coliseum.
Here are the matches in line for the show and MOC's predictions:
The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler
-WWE Intercontinental Championship-
Singles Match
When it comes to these two, both men have merits to win this match. Ziggler coming off his loss against Ambrose at Summerslam needs the momentum behind him, but than again as does Miz. Miz in my opinion has been on one of the best runs he's been on for a while. If he is sincere in making the IC title the most prestige's title on the show I rather him hold it and defend it whenever he can. Maybe even using a cheap method like using his wife to pick up the victory. This way this feud isn't fully over and can continue.
MOC Prediction: The Miz (retains)
Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt
Singles Match
I'll be one to say that I truly hope Bray doesn't lose in this match. I am a Randy Orton fan and love the character, but Bray is a unique talent which WWE just hasn't been able to grasp at. If this match goes as planned I would love to see Harper return costing Orton the match, but from my understanding Harper just started training again to get back in the ring, so a return now may be too quick. But, many seem to forget the other member in which Bray walked away from; Erick Rowan. Erick is on Smackdown as Bray has turned his back on him, it would be interesting to see Rowan come back and cost Bray this match-up. Not ideal in my mind, but a scenario that could work. Next thing you now, on Smackdown Live Harper could return and attack Rowan. So I'll pick a bold one here. Randy Orton wins due to Rowan interference.
MOC Prediction: Randy Orton (Due to Erick Rowan Interference)
The Usos vs. The Hype Bros
-Final Spot In The Smackdown Live Tag Team Tournament-
Tag Team Match
As we saw this past week, The Usos took out American Alpha going complete Heel. This is a good turn for them as lately they've been stalemating and not really getting the ovation a baby-face team get. So do to their attack Usos are going against Zack Ryder & Mojo Rawley to determine the final spot to face Rhyno & Heath Slater for the tag titles. So I'll keep this short, usually when there's a change of character they get focused on, so Usos.
MOC Predicition: The Usos
The Usos vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno
-Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship-
Tag Team Match
Now when it comes to Slater and Rhyno, I'm not pulling for them all the way. The reason is b/c Rhyno will have to go back to Michigan as a Republican representative and Slater's free agent gimmick is working pretty nicely. So this goes back to what I said previously, when there's a change of character, there's more focus on them. I gotta go with the Usos all the way.
MOC Predictions: The Usos (New Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions)
Natalya vs. Naomi vs. Becky Lynch vs. Nikki Bella vs. Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss
-Smackdown Live Women's Championship-
Six-Pack Challenge.
I'll be honest with you, I couldn't care more for this match. It is my opinion that the Raw women's division are more effective drawing our attention in, but this group of gals have really just turned me off. Not sure if it's because a majority of them have the squeaky, winy voice, but it's something that kills my attention So as far as this match goes, frankly I could care less who wins, but for the hell of it lets go for the one which I think should finally have a title around her waist and doesn't have an annoying voice.
MOC Prediction: Naomi (New Smackdown Live Women's Champion)
Dean Ambrose (c) vs. AJ Styles
-WWE World Heavyweight Championship-
Singles Match
The one match of the night that probably has the most draw to it. Since Dean has won the championship, I don't know what it is but he seems a bit more unappealing. His promo's seem to have gotten better, but his in-ring work just seems off. I can't put my finger on it or give you a detailed explanation as to why, but somethings off. AJ made a good point on Smackdown, Dean isn't John Cena and if AJ could beat John Cena, why can't he go through Dean? As far as this match goes, many claim that Cena will come back and turn heel costing Dean the championship and giving it to AJ as he sees him as the future of the company, but I can't see that happening. But what I do see happening is a new champion crowned at Backlash. So I won't dabble, AJ Styles comes out on top.
MOC Predictions: AJ Styles (New WWE World Heavyweight Champion)
